Our Story

Angus built to thrive where altitude and rock sort the cattle

How We Started

Founded in 1999, Diamond K Angus set out to raise Angus cattle that excel in the unforgiving country of Arizona. Lance grew up trailing family cattle from winter range at 7,000 feet to summer permits at 9,500 feet. Kristen learned the trade helping her uncle on a large desert outfit between Phoenix and Kingman. Together, we knew the challenge: dependable, high‑merit bulls that thrive where terrain and altitude test everything.

Raised & Developed in Real Country

Our registered cow herd winters on rocky ground that sees 6–9 inches of moisture a year and summers at 9,500 feet in the Arizona mountains. Bulls are never feedlot‑pampered — they’re developed on malpai rock pastures with a sensible ration and required to travel for forage and water. Rock‑footed is earned here.

Fit to Work

Fat bulls do not hold up under pressure. We develop bulls to be mature, muscular, and athletic — not obese showpieces that fade two weeks into breeding.

Balanced, Practical Genetics

We keep birth weights in check for heifer‑friendly calving, size cattle appropriately for our environment without giving up feedlot performance, and select for economically important traits. Disposition is non‑negotiable.
